Man robbed at Francis Quadrangle, chases assailants to Broadway

COLUMBIA — A robbery occurred at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday near Francis Quadrangle, according to a news release from the MU Police Department.

Police responded to Broadway and Eighth Street at about 1:36 a.m. to meet the victim, who had chased his assailants there, the release said. The victim told officers he had been robbed near the Quadrangle.

The victim stated that after a brief interaction with two men, they punched him and knocked him to the ground, according to the release, and then one man grabbed his wallet out of his back pocket. The victim pursued the two men north on Eighth Street toward downtown where he lost sight of them still running north on Eighth Street past Broadway, the release said.

The victim received minor injuries to his lower lip, both knees and left elbow. He was offered medical attention but refused, the release said.
