March 27, 1995

KANSAS CITY. An explosion and fire destroyed a three-story home in northeast Kansas City and critically injured a man, the only person in the home at the time.

June 26, 1995

URICH. An explosion destroyed a mobile home containing a drug lab in this east-central Missouri town. Two people were burned.

May 21, 1996

COLUMBIA. An explosion occurred in a duplex on Abilene Acres Drive after the occupant smelled natural gas. No one was injured.

Aug. 25, 1996

ST. LOUIS. A natural gas explosion destroyed a southwest St. Louis home. A man and his wife were critically burned.

October 1996

PINE LAWN. A house explosion occurred in this St. Louis suburb. The natural gas explosion resulted in two homes being condemned and another eight being inspected for safety. The cause was not immediately determined, but a man who had been staying at the home was being questioned by police.

Jan. 20, 1997

RAYTOWN. A house explosion in the suburb of Kansas City critically burned a man and destroyed his collection of snakes. Investigators indicated they believed the explosion was caused by an electrical fire that had burned in the basement for some time.

March 29, 1997

COLUMBIA. Two women were burned after a propane stove in an RV exploded as they were preparing food for auction patrons at a northeast Columbia home.

April 20, 1997

CENTRALIA. A natural gas pipeline explosion occurred near Centralia, spawning a fireball reportedly seen as far away as Quincy, Ill. No one was injured in the blast, which occurred around 4:25 a.m. in a farmer’s field.

February 2000

ST. LOUIS. A Laclede Gas Company worker died two days after he was injured in the explosion of a St. Louis-area house. The explosion destroyed one house and damaged 10 others. No one else was injured.

Dec. 14, 2006

COLUMBIA. A fire occurred at a home on Derby Ridge Drive just after 5 p.m. The blaze, which was preceded by an explosion, was confined to the garage. The fire began in the engine compartment of a car parked in the garage.

Dec. 24, 2006

COLUMBIA. An explosion at a mobile home on St. Charles Road injured one person. Dispatch information indicated a person was attempting to harm his or herself. The explosion and fire occurred shortly afterward at around 6 p.m. and caused about $30,000 in damage.

April 30, 2007

COLUMBIA. A flash gas explosion occurred at a home on South Garth Avenue around 7:30 p.m. A woman and her caretaker were in the home. The Columbia Fire Department said the explosion was caused by gasoline that was put into the sanitary sewer system. The fumes rose from a drain in the basement and were ignited by the pilot light of a nearby water heater.

Sept. 14, 2007

IMPERIAL. An explosion destroyed a home in the St. Louis area. A woman and her grandson escaped without injury.

Jan. 1, 2008

The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a shop building in northern Boone County after the sound of an explosion.
