William T. Hassler
William T. Hassler of Columbia died Saturday, July 19, 2008. He was 81.
He was born on March 24, 1927, in Jefferson City to Maynard and Pauline (Klimas) Hassler. He married Mary Lou Wolf in Jefferson City on July 30, 1951.
Mr. Hassler worked in the automobile business for nearly 50 years. He promoted child safety and was the originator of the “Kids in the Car” campaign.
He graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Jefferson City in 1944. He also served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1961.
Mr. Hassler is survived by his wife; one son, William Michael Hassler of Houston; one daughter, Lyn Karl of Bloomington, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Drive.
